Letting Go of The Light

I so needed to fly

tonight ..

I just wanted you

to know

that I finally let go

of the light ..

I so needed to die

before

you do, my love ..

I don’t

think, but I know

and only

too well, I would

not be able,

or want, to go on

for even one

moment without you ..

'...that I finally let go...' captures such a poignant moment in life, especially if we have lived well and to the full and have experienced a lot that is worth holding on to. Not being able to go on is evidence of how completely two lives are made one by love. That's what your poem says to me.

This poem reminds me of how finite we are and so helpless against our mortality. The saddest is that we must part with our most dearest ones some day. Death is a b***h for sure. Wonderfully expressed!
