On Moving On

On Moving On

A Poem by Neville
"

soon there shall be no capitals

"

on moving on

should you ever find

another

lover which no doubt

you most

surely will when I am

gone ..

I could not for a single

moment

blame you for moving

on ..

though I would like to

think

you might think of me

every

now and then, maybe ..

I have come to understand that 'moving on,' relates only to time, (itself no more than a measure of convenience conjured up by our species a mere few thousand years ago,) and that in our hearts and minds we are inextricably linked to all and everything we have experienced.

Nothing can change that, and in truth, no-one is ever really forgotten.

Beccy.

WOW, Neville this is amazing. Sad indeed, but relatable. IM so very sorry for your losses. No one should go through that... Live on, because you already have survived...

It is clear there is still much love here and that is one of the reasons your poem is beautiful. Moving on is easier said than done, even if another person comes along, one could still be attached in energy. Lovely write👏🏻

Well deserved dear and my pleasure!
Has a sad sound to it, this one. The speaker seems to be contemplating his own demise and hopes his lover will recall him "now and then." He also says he won't begrudge her taking another lover. Of course, we all are cowed by mortality to some extent, and perhaps the thought of being remembered by someone special is a sort of immortality. Ah, but try telling that to the Reaper.

again so very kind Matthew, many very grateful thanks my friend .. Neville
I think most people would like to be remembered by friends and family when they leave this plane, and remembered with love and a smile. As for replacing the departed, I imagine couples having this conversation with their significant other. As we age it’s something to consider talking about. Frankly an empty bed and no snoring is far more appealing than other options. Starting again, an impossibility for some.

soon there shall be no capitals - cryptic

It is natural to miss people that you have loved, admired or are fond of when they are no longer part of your equation. Loss and grief an inevitable part of life.

A difficult subject to write about, but nicely approached and conveyed Neville.
