I always say goodbye to each and every room, before leaving. It's like letting go of a friend, as it leaves you in tears. Ok, maybe that's just me reflecting back on a memory, but I felt a lump in my throat as you sat alone on that balcony in the pouring rain. I applaud you for "breaking the habit". That in itself is quite an accomplishment. And I'll take a glass of that red wine, too...and toast to the ghosts of our past!

please accept my very sincere apologies for this uncharacteristic and otherwise imposed late acknowledgement of your kind and encouraging visit Kelly .. I assure you, I was otherwise engaged and if the offer remains open, I shall drink a very large red this evening as a mark of my genuine appreciation and to your health ... Neville

No apology needed my friend! The offer still stands!
To leave something we have grown so fond of is a sad day indeed but, the memories created while there will stay with you for a long time and maybe you can return someday? Sounds like an enchanting retreat to me, sorry you had to say goodbye.

Hello my friend many thanks indeed for taking a few moments to consider the ingredients which made up my little scribble here .. Neville
I know how hard it must have been to say a final farewell to your mountain retreat. From your writing, I feel as though I have been there. You will have your wonderful memories, but more so, the spirit of you will linger in those walls as though you have never left. Sitting alone on the balconet, in the pouring rain with only your red wine for company added to the sadness I felt when reading this poem. On the bright side as one door closes another door opens Neville. A fine good morning to you from sunny Berkshire.

I feel the somber mood presented, in the image of what once was. Spirit still lingers over there, with a sense of belonging that supersedes legal claim. Wonderfully atmospheric with the backdrop of this beautiful mountain range.
