a veritable soup of a poem here Nev. Depending on the mood of the reader, the poet, or the recipient, this runs a red hot riff of need for the last word, defiant or melancholy, still hoping or good riddance. In other words, the entire gamut of a breakup

Certainly a declaration of love if ever there was one. Especially those last three lines. I can't help feeling here though, that she actually didn't know. A confessional as well as a parting. Well that depends on whether the ciao is French or Italian. Very nicely conveyed Neville.

And how do I know this? Because I do. Too late when it's dead parrot to revive it. Nice bit of self confessional reflection Neville on a love who you would clearly have gone to the end of the earth and beyond for :)
I can see someone reading this and thinking, "Aw, I wish I had known" and another thinking, "Whatever." It does depend on the mood of the reader...to me it means exactly what it says but to someone else it might not. Nicely done

Cheers willweb, many thanks indeed sir .. Neville :)
You are right this poem could define many things that we cling to but eventually move on from. Parting is such sweet sorrow as the old bard once said. Nicely done Neville my friend.
