Reed Song

When I next feel inclined, I shall lean toward thee ..

Like a reed in the wind,

though bruised, and bent double, still perfect and free ..

The last line :"though bruised, and bent double, still perfect and free" makes me think of a person even though has their own problems and difficulties, is still one who others can come to in times of need. In this case, the narrator feels they can come to this person who is like a reed in the wind. Thanks for sharing!

The leaning, the inclining... pliant as a 'reed in the wind.' Such a wonder-some (wonderful and awesome) image. Thanks for sharing.

My pleasure!
Your immaculate correlation between love and reeds is quite a rare gemstone to behold.
Your poem is very wholesome, and I enjoyed reed-ing it.

We all get bruised along love's path, Neville. If we can keep on bending, and not breaking, we are doing OK I would say! Lovely poetic lines, my friend!

Good morning dear Neville,
When one writes about nature the reader is often pulled in to find out what is going on... Your use of reeds in your delightful love poem definitely pulled me in and the reeds ...reached out to my heart.
Lovely...

I have seen many crushed and broken reeds from the riverbank and admired their tenacity and resilience in unkind weather.

OMG! I would want to steal this! I've wrote before about reeds and music. They are strong, yet gentle, yeilding and willing, though in their voice You hear the wound. We should be like them. though what I feel here is a love unrequited yet still ongoing. So You lean to the beauty of love even that deep down You are hurting. This is so gorgeous to me Neville... Love it.
