Tomodachi ya Koibito

Tomodachi ya Koibito

A Poem by Neville

Tomodachi ya Koibito

She called him a god

He said

I am me …

Yes, but …

We are so much

More than

Just friends though

Surely …

She enquired

As she

Wiped and he smiled

Yes, of course

He replied

And soon, you shall be

Far more

Than a precious

Collection of sighs

Delightful locations

And a safe

Harbour to sail in …

And since

We are destined

To become poetry

We shall

Always and inevitably

Be true

Tomodachi ya koibito ...

My favorite part of your fully-enjoyed message: that we all turn into poems. I read this idea as meaning anyone who's worthy of writing a poem about is pretty doggone special in one's life. One of the best poets for commemorating others in poems is our dear friend Annette. Here's hoping you're enjoying the titillation of springtime's constant budding! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This poem fits into my mind like a sensuous glove. It is more than destined it is one of the most creative use of the medium I've seen in a long time.

.............. a priceless reward :)
Has a mythical sound to it, like something out of "The Odyssey." The title, though, throws me. Is this an eastern myth?

i feel the subject of this poem is her muse. The muse is much more than a friend and never leaves us.
The muse for some just does a short visit once or twice, but for some of us the muse becomes a roommate,
a writing mate...a love mate...an eternal affair...someone who often comes late at or in the middle of the night....mine does and there is usually a creative union for a half hour or so...and then she says
goodnight and leaves till next time.
Even with the gaps, I know she will return.
and together we become poetry...I could not do this alone.

well I can't figure out what or who Tomodachi or koibito are and I'm thinking that doesn't matter because i have been there not literally but I had a very close friend that I'm pretty sure was a mutual love affair but we never did connect because I knew she would have to go back to her home country and she knew she couldn't stay so we hung like starving rabbits outside of the warren staring at all of the delicious delicacies inside but knowing only one of us could enter and that would be it so we stayed together hungry for a while
