The Sorriest of Words

The cry she made
Was barely heard

Helpless
As a baby bird

And twice as hungry
Yet still frightened

Sorry might be just
Another word regardless

Sorry is the saddest word that’s not nice being heard...bringing heartache and pain...wondering why did it happen did we lose or gain...and then again it’s not always the reason that ppl change ...sorry is often too late ...choices or fate??🌹

that's so funny you say that... I honestly dislike that word it is a generic catch all for insincerity but then again it is also a word that means something so if I say it its is cause I cant find the words to express my sorrow for of which is in fact a sorry situation:?

This is one fine example of how you can pick up a morsel of life & throw a precious few words around it, coming out with a powerful universal statement. This strikes me as a snark at all those people who engage in thoughtless behavior & feel vindicated becuz they do a great "sorry" afterwards (I did this for many years & felt it adequate human interaction!) You don't say it, but it stands to scream at us all the way thru: "Sorry" needs to be accompanied by an earnest commitment to do better (((SMUG))) Fondly, Margie

"Sorry seems to be the hardest word." Billy Joel from "Honesty" I'm not the apologetic or the sympathetic sort. I believe if I've done wrong I should make it right. And I believe sympathy to be just an emotional response from those who aren't offering to help. I guess I'm just more of a pragmatist and realist in that aspect. Now, let's find that baby bird a worm and a warm nest. :) I enjoyed the read.

Sorry is not always helpful when words cause more damage than intended. Sometimes, sorry becomes just another dispensable word.

…...…………………….. and it goes without saying, likewise
Good morning N. Multi layered thoughts here. I was thinking of Elton John's song, sorry seems to be the hardest word. I was also thinking it should only be said if you really mean it. A half hearted apology is worthless. I also focused on that helpless as a baby bird. I held a tiny Robin in the palm of my hand a couple of days ago. Fallen from the nest before it fledged. Cold in its half made vest. Your words reminded me of the sadness I felt.

Speaking as someone who has a default setting of "sorry, I wasn't thinking" to such an extent, that in some quarters I could be officially recognised as a sorryologist, I do believe that you have hit the nail on the properly designated spot Neville. It is more than saying the words, it is the feeling it gives you of knowing you have truly messed up and are suffering for it. Not just sorry for your self, but for causing the wrong.
Saying that though, I also find it never hurts to throw on a pre-emptive sorry in, just to be on the safe side, just in case of emergencies.

Sorry. 😀

So much comes to kind with this one and much to interpret.
A lost child perhaps or a runaway. Has me thinking.
