As the fisherman said, there but for the brace of cod...
We just never know the minute, nor ever will. All it takes is a simple distraction and one life ends, anothers life sentence begins, and more still will wonder if they have anything to wear to the funeral/court case.
Nicely done sir.

Oh my! She stumbled right into that one. The truck that hits me will need to be driving through trees, bobbing and weaving. I will, as Thoreau suggested, "content myself with the freedom of foxes and wild animals; with the bravery of minks and weasels."

thanks for checking in sir..much appreciated as always :)
i see this metaphorically...the tragedy of one being run over by another...and that person doesn't even stop to survey the damage, just moves on to the next victim. Life is too short, and for some much shorter than others...hearts can be killed at such young age anymore.

You are of course write and I thank you for your words Jacob
So many times, I almost left in a scurry of feathers...
where time flies and a life ceases to be... and here I am
loving life and reading words painted in twilight shadows
where Nightingales sing and freedom rings as the sun will rise
in lavender rose smiles where hope lies on mountain tops and flows
down waterfalls where life and love abide. The moments I almost died are history. gently, Pat

The ending of this little piece of brevity had a huge impact. In a few seconds lives have changed forever. Her life is over and those who loved her are left in shock at the unexpected, while he whose brakes failed will live his days with a heavy load of guilt over him like a dark cloud. Sad poem with a tragic ending.

Indeed sir, sometimes I think we're living on borrowed moments, extended time, God's grace or as what we can call it. Life is so unpredicatble and every step is peril. I caught my breath reading this. Exhaled slowly, thoughtfully...
