I am sure this is not about a parent but I had my Dad's fedora for a long time after he was gone and every now and then I would take it off the hook where I kept it and breath in the smell of my Dad.. I could sure use that right now... I agree with Chris.. this is a gem..

Mmm, yes. How poignant! I love the line break here: "Bruises always/ Fade" so good. Also the end line - "on and on and on" really captured the sense of longing that you convey so well in this piece. Enjoyed reading this, especially in these times and in reflection of lost loved ones.

thank you most kindly and true my friend.. a much appreciated visit.. Neville
I think, a very vital part of any kind of love is the memories created, its essence. Long after its gone, it gives us something to cherish and go back to as life leaps on relentlessly. Really appreciated the flow and feeling in this poem.

Truly appreciated and enjoyed your words here. You are welcome sir :)
Indeed, nothing does last forever. All that we have valued in this place will leave us, or we will leave it. Only what we really are will stay constant. A poignant piece here.

Thank you kindly John & the very best of regards to you sir
A memory like everything else must be taken out of its keep sake box and experienced. We must work at keeping it alive and well, or time will still it away.

Our memories do turn sepia, with those vibrant shapes and colours becoming more like watercolours as the years pass. The small details forgotten, then suddenly out of the blue remembered, which leads once more to thoughts of her and how we could forget something that was once our all.
But luckily for me, my memory isn't what it was and I soon enough get distracted.
So that'll be one thin n crispy pepperoni, a garlic bread pizza and a bottle of tizer thanks.
