Just because I slowed right down

Does not mean I stopped loving you

 

I thought I saw you falter

And thought it best to let you go

 

And truly

 

As lightly as a feather might

Leave a trace of ache behind

 

I set you free

But darling every now and then

 

Occasionally I pray do think of me

Like you would of waterfalls and sunshine

 

Like you would of lovers past

Fine wines and holidays…

 

Yes my love

Do think of me fondly

 

And truly always ...

I can't express how these precious word fell and tugged tightly my heart, I don't need to say anything when Your purest feelings are radiating from Your page like a sparkling stream. yes we women sometimes don't speak what we really want, just waiting desperately with hope for the man to figure it out by his own, and yes many times the man too will step aside giving her space thinking he is doing her good, while the truth is that she wants him near. sharing openly thoughts and feelings can solve it all. hauntingly emotionally moving, one can't but feel it with an aching heart. Seems like a selfless love to me, Neville. Anytime we want someone to remember the bright moments and fondly it shows we are thinking of their happiness.

And thinking of their happiness while ours may be lacking, well. What is better than that.

This is a lovely tender poem. Nice to read such creations.

This is a very tender and forgiving poem Neville. I like it a lot. Very often a relationship faltering can engender bitterness or worse but you have shown how understanding and forgiveness is a better way forward. You have some lovely lines in here - the ones with 'I pray' and 'trace of ache'.

reminds me of someone, actually two relationships that due to timing, location, found their ending....but we never had a chance for bitterness to arrive while we were together...so for me, only fond memories, and my hope is they have those same memories.
