these words are dedicated to my personal favourite restaurant on the planet currently celebrating its sixth consecutive month at #1 spot.. but maybe I'm just a little bit biased....
You can't fool me guvnor, it's a lady type thing person you're talking about, innit?
Those Mediterranean birds are bitchin 😀
There's a little Italian with delicious nibbles I quite like, but she's not that small. 5, 10 at least.
Ps. Apologies ladies. Didnt mean to call her a thing. I feel a hash tag in my future 😀

I have yet to describe a restaurant as the epitome of sophisticated rusticity, but I'll be keeping this one in my pocket until needed. Thanks!

then you never ate at my sons restaurant my friend.. rated number #1 for 11 consecutive months by tripadvisor for the local area and number 4 for the west country by WCL .. sadly now closed due to this virus and will not now re-open .... he does have the sophisticated rusticity copywrite.. so be careful... Neville
How kind of You to write about it, now You make me wish to visit that obviously beautiful place, and if Neville is loving it that much, then I think I will love it too :) BTW very sweet and lovely words, I believe the Lady would wish it was written for her instead of the "restaurant" of course if we made an exception for the last line ;)

Some how I will have to come and see this place for myself I think I owe myself a vacation next year and I have been thinking a nice trip to Europe would be a lovely treat as i believe would be true of dining at your sons restaurant:) You are an awesome dad and poet Nev!
A short word for all. It's interesting reading a piece as this. This is not the matter of being bias. I think it's the matter of getting the best satisfaction. You feel the best where you get the best.
Well penned, Neville.

how very true..... I must remember that my friend..
I'm down on my knees, pushing waves of warm fragrant aromas toward you with my outstretched palms facing downwards . . . assuming the position of awe, that is! This is delightfully playful & evocative, as well as revealing a daddy's pumped-up pride in a delicious light! You are the world's best dad & this is one reason why I think so! A lovely dedication to your son's restaurant. Anise is a little star and your clever lines are filled with Mediterranean imagery. I could say more but brevity is useful at times.

well ... my friend ... since you have written about it i had to delve deeper ..John Gerard in his Great Herball, a very old herb encyclopedia, that.... "The seed wasteth and consumeth winde, and is good against belchings and upbraidings of the stomacke, alaieth gripings of the belly, provoketh urine gently, maketh abundance of milke, and stirreth up bodily lust: it staieth the laske (diarrhea), and also the white flux (leukorrhea) in women.[31]" :)
not to emit fog over your wonderful elevation of an incredible herb and spice .. very triksy to use a woman to describe the herb rather than visa versa .. soon it will be time to tip me pint of the day but alas ... i will be pining away for some licorice whiskey ... i am sure there is such a thing somewhere .. your poem sends me to the deep Mediterranean .. for love of aniseed ... is Anise the name of your friends restaurant??
E.
ps. some very fine imagery, scent and personifications sir

The brightest stars are usually too busy shining to stop and think about their worth. That's why there are poets to shout that worth to the world, me thinks.
I would be chuffed to receive such a glowing review of my efforts and hard work. To know that it is all appreciated, especially by those who mean the most, would be a tribute worth keeping close in a locket. I imagine the walls and windows, among others, are basking the in the glow of such praise.
Lovely work, Neville.

I can't thank you enough for these kind words Eilis... many thanks indeed...
Okay. My first thought was my favorite restaurant------my mother's kitchen at Christmas------her Christmas ham was to die for. Like I said before, you paint wonderful mind pictures with words. The coupling of words can mean different things for different people. Interpretation may not always be the Author's intent.
