It can be quite difficult to tell a moth from a butterfly unless you are an expert. In one of the Oxford museums I have visited, there were some incredibly beautiful moths. Lovely rich emerald green colours. This reads like a bit of a put down or if not a put down, a disappointment of sorts. I don't think moths are quite as fragile as butterflies. Your three lines I'm sure will have many interpretations.

I liked Chris description below. I didn't know a moth could appear to be a butterfly. Your words had a twist, left the reader with something to think about. Thank you Neville for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Some moths are spectacular, Neville. And can make you think that they are butterflies... being a Lepidoptera it is easy for her to fool us, isn't it ?

This sounds like cold reality to me. In matters of romance, the butterfly too often returns to it's former state. (All of mine did)

A lowering of our expectations . . . admitting that each life is unique and purposeful . . . a grand review of reality as time takes it toll . . . a maturing in our ability to see things as they are.

There were these gigantic beautiful colored moths that were on my back deck a few years ago. It was the only time they ever come in all the years I ve lived here.
