when they're gone.. they're gone

Big Empty Space

 

Such a space

She once filled

Now gone though

Tis like she

Never was

 

While in the

Distant distance

Love lies wounded

And appears

To be so very bruised

 

Henceforth tho

As I calculate

This unexpected

Extra space

Now available to me

 

I sit recalling days

Bemused as much

By her sheer absence

Yet despite it I still do

Feel so very much abused

To not have loved and lost is never to have loved at all. You have hit the love nail on the heart here Neville. I suppose our experience of love lost is personal but I would say that the love lost can linger long. I think your reference to feeling abused will chime with many. I liked this a lot! I relate more to poetry like this that speaks to me!

Poignant words. For someone who occupied such a large space in the author's world, tells me this love was important to him. I also get a message of don't cry over spilt milk there are plenty of other fish in the sea. However that said, it is clear from these lines that there is a heavy fallout on the emotions. You always say so much in your writing Neville, you really cut to the quick.
