This is one of the most brilliant things you've ever written that I've read. Usually I do not like short poems becuz I WANT MORE! To me, a short poem is successful when it conjures up a vivid extended series of visions in the reader's mind (in effect, GROWING the little poem into big ideas). That's exactly what this poem does. So many avenues to ponder, after you've set up this brief painting analogy (((NUGS))) Fondly, Margie

When painted with expert care re. light and shade a canvas stays fluid for years - (think of Van Gogh and his sunflowers etc.) and a canvas oiled with love will surely remain fresh despite time's abuse........ a heart-ache hides in these six short lines methinks Nev..............

you could not be more write my friend, and I thank you for it.... Neville
Nev,
Pondering this poem . . . I see the receiver of the kiss as one who observes life around her, is all the time capturing it in her imagination . . . she sees more than the average person . . . perhaps someone who loves her life, and, yes, wants to share it with others. Someone who can look beyond the darkness and find beauty. Let's hope, in answer to your question, that she never loses that wonder she finds in this world. Hope this is a person who is a big part of your life. Interesting poem my friend.

how very kind of you my friend.. thank you.. Neville
So much could be said about these beautiful words. There is much imagery and many interpretations. I see this as an oil painting, an old one. I see the author kissing this painting over the years. His lips will ensure the canvas never dries I could also envisage a tear or two here. Superb brevity Neville.

It always starts as a blank canvas; how it ends, dry as dust, or the falling rain of tears, is in the lap of the Gods.
Short, but oh, so very sweet.
