Maybe the poet needs some company while he does his sky gazing. Be it night or day, the sky can surely give inspiration. You only have to look at morphing clouds or the starlit heavens for that. The right company would enhance that situation no end and the words would certainly flow.

Neville,
This is an interesting poem . . . the sky above, the ground below . . . where would a poet choose to find himself? I sense this poem is deeper than the hole that he has dug for himself. Well at least the sky is still there and after a time he might find his muse and fly again.

Thank you my friend.. how very kind and true..... Neville
It is sometimes exhausting either way, when the head keeps buzzing with words or the empty kind of buzzing where we search the corners of our mind and try to beat the writer's block... I find staring into empty space quite inspiring sometimes ;P
"Here lies a poet tired
A poet drained and dry"
Love this, might as well choose those lines for my epitaph!
Always nice reading you, N.

thank you my friend you are welcome any time and always appreciated... N :)
The sky does not stay empty for long - throughout history, writer's block has been a documented problem, but without noticing our imagination somehow 'kick starts' us back into verse again ... been there - had that ... nice, write my friend... :-)

Now and then even brilliant poets need to rest their weary heads... to replenish their creative minds. that vast blue in time will be holding millions of stars to inspire the poet once more....It is just a matter of time my wonderful poet.
The broken pencil, the blank paper.
Words in the sky out of reach.
This is when I plagiarise, or at least till I find the pencil sharpener.

oh yes, the poet in despair, the poet with no more words, he or she could drown in a tear drop---even when there is nothing but blue sky watching him or her above.
