Last Words

Last Words

A Poem by Neville
"

for someone most deserving of love and who gave me the inspiration to pick up my pen again...

"

Last Words

Now I am gone

Note

How my last words

Linger

And how they

Live on

Like an echo

Bouncing off itself

Live on my love

Yes live on

In your lilac

Lavender

Lace and lapis world

Of oh so many blues

Now I am gone

It matters not

My pulse shall

Still dance tho

In the high domes

Of Cathedrals

Where the white dove

Circles in frayed sunlight

By day it does

At least and roosts

At night

Burn no more candles tho

My love

For I am blinded

By their light and

Still shadows

Dare not

Mark or pave the way

For this pilgrims feet

Mesmerizing, profound write. Inspiration, embodied in spirit, gentle and humble as she goes softly into the good night. Beautiful, eloquent tribute to the beloved muse that lives yet in your poet’s heart Neville. Your classic, lyrical, graceful lines and verses pay worthy homage to her memory. And I thank her too, for putting the pen back in your gifted hand.

I'm not sure where this poem is going, but this is where it took me. I thought about how my life is not very memorable & I don't mind that everyone will soon forget me after I'm gone, but hopefully I could have conveyed my love of nature such that I've touched a few along the way who will have adopted an increased appreciation of our planet beyond my lifetime (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Nev... your poem reminds me of the song,
"Lavender blue, dilly-dilly Lavender Green
If I were king, dilly, dilly, I'd need a queen... ".
Actually... none of us know just when, like your
poem states, "Burn no more candles tho My love
For I am blinded By their light" ... I am touched deeply by your poetry. truly, Pat

Anyone giving you the reason to pick up a pen and put words together again must be deserving of this lyrical tribute Nev.............superlative poetry lures and compels more than one read and "Last Words" is most certainly that................x

hmm "Last Words" ... brilliant .. your poet knew it would be the last :( this: ".....lilac
Lavender
Lace and lapis .." is milk toast (rolls of the tongue; delightful just to say it) love it for it has image, scent and mood when you add the "blues" ....in the Cathedral, with the dove, the light and the shadows .. votive candles glowing ...your closing haunts me Nev. ..i believe the accounts of near death .. there will be a light .. it will be beyond what we know as light ... ones heart must be steady and true .. and hearken to it with hard, fast, honest focus me thinks ... falling aside ..right or left into the darkness will simply not do. Bravo for you muse putting the pen back into your hand ... can i have her number? i'd like a date with her ;))))))))))))))))))

This is beautiful. It rolls very effortlessly and I love how you gave the image of your pulse dancing on. How your last words linger is mesmerizing and beautiful. Such a good writing from a good and classic writer. Keep up the beautiful work!

upon my word, you are are far too kind my friend.. but he thanks thee for it, so he does... :)
This is truly beautiful Neville. It's just as well they talked some sense into or we might have got a cafe posse together to come and slap some sense into you. :)
Echoes and blues haunt your words, yet the warmth is for the other and not yourself, leaving no trace as to your whereabouts now...(which come to think of it, would make that posse useless) :)
A mighty fine and inspired piece of writing.

Anyone who inspires a poet to write is worthy of their love and respect. There is no thing thing greater to a poet than their words. They want them to linger. They want to be remembered through their words. This is a beautiful poem Neville.
