Once Upon a Tablecloth

Once Upon a Tablecloth

A Poem by Neville
"

it happened...

"

Once Upon a Tablecloth

My upon my

How the morning

It did come

Once more upon me

Twas like a landslide

Or some flash flood

Crashing down without

So much a

Blooming warning

And whereupon my

Senses

They did all explode

Laugh you not though

All ye lads and doxies

For twas then

I spied a bank of

Tall mirrors gawping

Happenstance

Reflected and refracted

In the distance

Yes twas there

I saw her lying

Pon a white and blue

Check table cloth and true

Twas there for sure

I saw her fingers

Slowly drawing

Perfect circles

Pon belly flat and

Of course

Her very own

Milk white thighs

Yes twas then

She thought

None but the birds

And bees and sheep

And sky

Were watching

But I knew

Indeed I saw

While all the time

Close by

I watched and whispered

Through cupped hands

And to the wind

Mind

Come hither love

Come here enjoy me

One more time

I plead and beg thee

Before I bid

A fond goodbye

This sounds like waking up after a night on the tiles exposed to the elements. Was that a picnic tablecloth by any chance Neville that you spied that fair maiden on? And there she was thinking she was all alone while you had your eyes on her hoping for better things to come. Flight of fancy or real, you always keep your readers guessing. I always enjoy your reads and the journey you take us on.

This is a quite magical Neville. It reminds me strongly of when my own mind goes awol. There's an echo of Alice through the looking glass here. I often worry about whether the psychiatrists are reading my stuff cos I think we reveal more than we want. Your bit 'slowly drawing perfect circles pon belly flat and thigh ' is quite luscious.
great work.
cheers.

I like the above lines. I miss the days of coffee, long conversation and fearless people. Always a pleasure to read your amazing poetry.

There are so many appealing aspects to sharing kitchen time together, but you've brought this concept to the next level of blue-and-white checkered madness! *wink! wink!* This has all the intensity & nuance yet merely hinting at the activities that dance on your tablecloth! *smile* Fondly, Margie

If you go down to the woods today you'll get a big surprise.
If the woods come to you though, it was because you got to high.
Crop circles and fair maidens are only in your head.
But that tablecloth, well, enough said.

Was this the party to end all parties? Was the tablecloth removed from the table during a magic exercise. How we all treasure some moments and wish for a repeat! Nice style as always nev.

That's the best thing about it being fantasy Neville, you can just edit out all those things that interfere, like fences, hedges, locks.....and i'll stop there before the list becomes a novel :)
