Blink

Blink

A Poem by Neville
"

It has been a long night...

"

Blink

Blink and there are

No more flowers

Blink and there are

No more hours

Blink and there are

No more colours

All of them have

Each been stolen

Blink and there is

No more ours

No not one

None whatsoever

But at least there is

No one f*****g up

In ivory towers

All those towers

Are now bowled over

Blink and the

Clock stops of

Its own Accord

You can take me

Anywhere my love

Anywhere at all

My lord

Blink I told you

We should have scored

So many wasted

Opportunities

Blink and the amphitheatre

Of self indulgence

Is still there

Where I am watched

If not adored

Blink you b*****d

Just do as you are told

Blink and the light

Is fading

I’m going blind

But not complaining

Blink

There is a shadow

Moving

Where our patron saint

Was floored

Blink and there is no more colour

No not a single one

Blink but will you

Mourn me baby

When I am no more

Blink oh how the crowds applaud

Good morning Neville.

I blinked and found the sun is smiling
gone the darkness and its blinding of the best and brightest light

Blink the colours are returning
here comes hope and here comes learning
In your words the skies are burning
torching everything in sight

With the day comes new tomorrow's,
blitz that mood of bloody sorrows
Hold my hand and you can borrow
all that's blazing shining bright

Pack away those night time shadows
stealing all your sense of reason
curse this callous winter season
plaguing you with mares of fright.

Couldn't resist it. Forgive me :)
Love your poem and references within it.

Chris

Neville,
Enjoyed your poem, but I must confess my eye went dry with all that blinking!! Yes . . . in this fast paced world things happen so quickly that it's hard to keep up! Especially liked the 4th stanza.

In the blink of an eye, say goodbye..goodbye. Oh, my oh my! What have befallen us when we pry. If we do never try, time will do his black magic, this I cry. It will swallow our shadow and be in the dust a must. Marvelous as usual great Neville Pettitt.

There are times when we just NEED to keep taking it in. Don't want to miss a thing. But we will. Blinking is inevitable

up until a point it is, yes blinkin true.. cheers
A few years ago I was very ill for several months and sleep was something that just wouldn’t come. There were nights where I didn’t sleep at all, and then I’d spend all my daylight hours dreading the sundown, and doing the lone night watch again.

I felt this. Your poem reminded me very much of the loneliness and desire to just be able to share that burden with someone. And how at times the sleeplessness made me feel so worn out I thought I might not make it through another night. I don’t say all this for myself, just to express how vivid and real your poem felt. The sense of things here among these halls of words reached beyond the page and tapped me on the shoulder. I hope you are having a better night tonight, sleeping soundly.

I thought this was excellent. The reaching, and the undefined desperation were poignant.

This is a great analogy for brexit.
Blink and you are British.
Blink again, and you're still European.
No wonder that Junger guy gets pissed every night.
Blink and some bugger have built a wall.

the doctors tried to explain to my mother that she was too old for surgery: our lives are too complicated for even the experienced to explain for a minute. We can blink and the white house can be taken over by the communist. Blink and the water supply in Flint can be poisoned. Blink and the theatre of self indulgence and egoism wont leave. Blink and the unavoidability of getting old will fade from our understanding. Yet you turn the ending into a love poem that says: all we know is heat and bright and it becomes more and more difficult to see the worlds gradations. great poem/ dana

Maybe if we didn't blink. Time would stop my friend. I do agree with your logic. Time goes by and we need to make every second count. Thank you Neville for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.
