Bride of the Hedgerows

Bride of the Hedgerows

A Poem by Neville
"

to keep thee warm this winters morn...

"

Bride of the Hedgerows

It seems to me

She’s

Everywhere

On leaves

On trees on

Moonbeams

Fair

With autumn

Highlights

In her hair

A silver weave

Runs

Through the

Cotton dress

She so much

Loves to wear

On evenings

Such as these

It seems to me

She’s

Everywhere

More lovely than

A leeward

Downcast

Soulful stare

And

Filled to overflow

With

Bronzes

Golden browns

And greens

A colour wheel

Of in betweens

Of berries pulses

Nuts and seeds

This winter

What a beautiful tribute to the elusive bride of the hedgerows. You have such a way of invoking the landscape, and making me long for those things you are musing on. Is it ok if I just bask in the glow of the poem and leave it at that?

Lovely work, Neville.

Just picking this one up, Neville, thanks to Chris, don't know how I missed it. We are into late winter here, but I look forward to spring and the garden.
This is a wonderful description of a fall setting. Chris is right...that early morning frost would look fantastic.
Hedgerows are something we Canucks have little experience with, but I can picture it clearly thanks to your poem.

A good write, N. thank you.

This is the ultimate lovestruck lullaby. Who wouldn't be thrilled to have such a poem written with fond thoughts of your sparkling subject for a scene that's woven with all my favorite imagery & sensations? I love how you seem to capture a loving innocence & wholeheartedness that feels childlike (((NUGS))) Fondly, Margie
