Cooling Down

Cooling Down

A Poem by Neville
"

Remembering November 2005....but only too vividly

"

Cooling Down

I could of course

Be bitter

Even angry

At a push

But for now I

Will let you

Decide

What emotion

You would

Prefer

Me to wear

Tonight

After all I am on

Display here and

Although in

Denial

And still clearly

Projecting

Blame

In my direction

I imagine

You may have

Already

Forgotten my

Name

Perhaps in

Favour

Of some psycho or

Pseudo lover

Maybe a poet even

Of one kind or

Another

I am not bitter tho

Oh no

Not at all

He laughs

On the contrary

I consider

Myself

Very lucky

Okay

I might well be

Going blind and

Senile

Waiting on the

Result

Of several

Biopsies

But I am free

You understand

And sooner or

Later

When I am

Gone and

I do so mean

Gone

I suspect

Enlightenment

Will eventually

Find you

Then you will

No doubt

Realise

That I was right

And you my

Dear

Were superbly

Wrong

Do take notes

Though

They might just

Help you later on

Surprising as it

Might now

Seem

The world

Does not

Revolve

Around you or

Your alter ego

Not everything

Is perfect

Far from it

Take my word

There is evil

In this world

Hunger too

Of course

Plus a fair

Amount

Pain and

Suffering

Even monsters

Yeah even them

So step out from

Your comfort

Zone

And take

A damn good

Look around

You won’t be hot

Forever Babe

In fact you are

Already

Cooling down….

I think the word therapeutic comes to mind for this one Neville, but what a brilliant last line, taking us back to the title. I was wondering if it, the title, would make an appearance, but it was still a surprise how you done it.
Now, perhaps I need some primal screaming therapy in my next write |:)

Outing with deeper feelings which need to be said puts this write where hopefully it did most good - i.e. to the rather selfish demeanor of its recipient - - things can clear then for honesty to make itself felt. A really good read which I am glad that I caught Nev........... x

dear Neville... cooling down is a good omen... we can only
hope that when we are cool under a shady bough... we will
remember how bothersome it was to be hot. Seriously, your
poetry is unusually profound. truly, Pat

This is timeless,Neville, a decade from now it will still feel relevant.... because some aspects of human nature is consistent.

This really made me smile, Neville, because I have a twisted sense of humor, not because it's funny! I love the acid=soaked words, the pervading sense of bitterness and the venomous directness! I love the metaphor, too - she may be 'cooling down', but your ire certainly is not! So I am sorry I smiled, my friend, because I can feel your pain throughout this poem, but I just could not resist the dose of pure vitriole so eloquently expressed. A masterpiece of its kind! Kudos!

I couldn't help but smile while reading. 'The world does not revolve around you or your alter ego' - something which I've been told too often haha ;P
It's kinda delusional of anyone to think they'd be remaining hot forever btw, so I hope you sent this one their way too although that might not cool them down lol
Cool piece of writing, Neville.

Smiling an evil smile here, Neville....seems you can write a good vent too! :) The angrier we are at a person, the uglier they seem...and the less sexy. She may never realize she was wrong and you were right, but you know...and your opinion is the one that counts if you ask me. Very good writing here. Lydi**

Hi Neville!
2005 seems a long way now! Time sutures and seals the gaps and just a faint, hairline scar remains. I’m glad you had written it down at the time and we could get to read such a clear, compelling flow of emotions. Life isn’t fair my friend and those who hurt us often go on to be very happy with little or no guilt. I usually fret for a time and then move on, letting Almighty decide their fate. Kudos for the heartfelt writing!
