Ours scars tell our stories. They help define who we are and where we've been, and all the in between. My husband had heart surgery eight years ago, and is very sensitive to people seeing the scar it left upon his chest, that resembles a zipper. I told him to be proud of it...it helped save his life!

Scars make us more interesting. Very nice use of words. Left something for the reader to think about. Thank you Neville for sharing the amazing poetry.

Oh how I love this tribute to our imperfections, our scars! They turn an ordinary human into a person extraordinaire! They add layers, lend shades of grey, add new facets to a character. They make you, you and me, me. And they makes us the poets we are! Kudos Neville!

Well for a start, thanks for adding to my dictionary another word for broken, (i thought I knew them all.)
It is such a simple sounding statement you make in so few words, that hints of at least a Pandora's box worth of memories behind them. I can also see why you ended with that word. Now I know its meaning, it fits so perfectly, that it could be the finished vase itself after repair.

Its true without them....we won't be what we are today..... each scar shapes us...turns us stronger as they say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger....:)

Broken pottery....far more precious than perfect pottery. I actually believe the imperfections make a person more beautiful. Then again, I am a little "out there" at times! :) Good one, Neville. Lydi**

In Kintsugi, the imperfections that are in the broken item are not merely displayed; they are enhanced by the use of a cementing agent containing powdered gold or silver, which adds value to your item (that would be you, Neville) as well as repairing the damage.
As a side note, your Haiku seems perfect to me.
