Believe Cohen was more poet when first known.. unsure but you will probably know. Did someone say of him that like many men, he knew more about 'longing' that he ever did of 'belonging. Maybe this is where and how came,
'Before we die
We must be sure
To read the
Book of Longing
Maybe together
Under an ancient
Yet still white
Foaming quilt '

thank you for stopping by .. yes Cohen was first & foremost a poet & easily my favourite .. not sure about that saying or quote but I wouldn't be surprised .. Irving Layton was his teacher and friend and Lorca his favourite poet .. although he did write very favourably of three of mine .. this was not one of them. Neville
Mmmm steamy poem....my office mirrors are steaming up hehehe...
I think before we die to write the book of longing with your loved one...would make it all perfect...to capture those beautiful time with them in words.... what can be more beautiful other than reminding yourself of those wonderful love...isn't it N.
Beautifully done with your special charm in it...:)
Have a wonderful day

She'll step on the path/ She'll see what I mean /My will cut in half/ And freedom between/ For less than a second /Our lives will collide /The endless suspended /The door open wide /
then there's a bit I've forgotten, and then "What no one has done /She'll continue to do...
I've gotta look it up and read it later...I am losing my memory a little, I guess. I know there's a LOT more.
Wassmatta, can't just relax and enjoy yer milkin' with that damnable branch distractin' ye? Chill out, man, nobody's comin'...otherwise...
What a combination of delights. Loving and poetry. Reading Cohen in bed while the storm rages and that branch taps on the window pane. So reminiscent of Heathcliffe and Cathy. And that shower scene, hot and steamy. (best leave the book outside, if you love books as much as you love that woman). All in the key of f minor. Maybe it would have been f major when you were younger? And your dedication to two International poets. This poem speaks to me of your two greatest loves Neville.
