Samurai warriors often used clove oil on their hair to coat the blade of their captor or victor with a pleasing scent.. Fallen, captured, or disgraced samurai were often expected to commit seppukau, or summarily beheaded...

The force and fire of your words is so profoundly moving, and I love the insights shared of the Samurai as well. Their world has always made me marvel.

Thank you Jorge for visiting these words, much appreciated... Neville
This was raw and primal. It reminds me of the old days where things were settled between two with no laws or regulations. Just a duel for what each believed was right and they were owed. I love it. Your flow is great and so is your language. Saying less is way more.

Being a minimalist myself, I enjoy watching Alaska reality TV (several different programs) where hunters/trappers teach their way of living off the land, etc. When buying new traps, they boil them to get all the weird human/manufacturing scents off. Your poem reminds me of that. I also love the way your explanation suggests the scent of death needs some brightening up! *wink! wink!*

What an extraordinary reminder of that extreme ritual. Could never fascinate me (if ever it could) but, one has to drag emotional power from within to understand its ancient tradition - like it or not. When one thinks of the devastation of Hiroshima, the horrors of chemical warfare, etc. - what killing is worthy of celebration?
Moving on quickly from the topic to your writing. Your posts so often teach, remind and/or more. Thank you for that, Neville.

Been trying to catch up with reciprocal reviews - slowly - very, getting there.
Are you interested in Samurai warriors and their history? I guess a more merciful killing is better than a bodged up job. Should have read this earlier, before bedtime. Not keen on any killing especially ritualistic killing. You have just uncovered my weak point.
Yes I am interested in their history & culture...sorry, sweet dreams....

I'am sure that many people are interested in the culture of Samurai warriors. I am sure that they showed great courage and bravery and no doubt they trained for years to get the skill they needed.
