She stole from him a gasp, then kissed it back to him.........

 

On Waking Up

 

The way

That she woke him

That morning last June

Quite simply took his breath away

 

Then later

She did preen herself

Until the crickets and those fireflies

 Switched on their sound and light display

 

Breathtaking

And free it was she smiled

Then smiled again that smile she reserved for him

though, it's about "on waking up", from those crickets and fireflies displaying the lights, I feel like sleeping.

I haven't seen fireflies, maybe that needs to go on my bucket list too. Do they really light up and glow? Crickets I have heard many times. It must have been a lovely sight to see a light display, to raise a smile all round.

They truly do light up and sparkle and glow.. an amazing sight Chris on a dark night.. it is not unusual to see lots of them and when the breeze catches them, tis like a little private aurora borealis light show...unfortunately, the season is a very short one........Neville

They are absolutely beautiful. They are in fact beetles that have a lantern on their underside. How cleveaw a display in Utah on google.

We had several come into our kitchen and lounge the other day plus lots in the garden.. I will never forget the wonder on first seeing them... and to be honest, that wonder is still pretty neat whenever they appear.....we will have to get a coachload of poets together and do a road trip to Bulgaria....
