Cuban Sparrow

Having read a couple of Stella's.. I found one of my own....

Cuban Sparrow

 

Hello little fella

What are you doing down there

In the gutter

You can’t stay there growing hungry and cold

Come and sit

Here in the palm of my hand

And get warm

There now don’t you feel so much better

Smashing stuff

Now go and puff yourself up my little

Cigar brown

Cuban sparrow a long way from home

I love the way you use "sparrow" & "cigar" as interwoven concepts that share similar aspects. As always, your writing ideas are so unexpected & original. The line starting with: "Here in the palm of my hand . . . " reminds me of finding tiny baby bunny in the wild, while hiking, brought it home & raised it on a bottle (when I was a kid). Hello my friend, yes am now okay, I think but had an unexpected brush with a little bull nosed viper which required a dash to hospital and loads of monitoring. Got some great pics of me on a drip which I might put up here when I get back to the UK... hope you are both well x
