' Reds and golds - As delicate as fern fronds - And fragile as a wren’s egg - Just as full.. '
When a man compares love to such a precious yet solid stone, he's turning it into something gentle, soft and delicate that nothing.. nothing, can make it or the woman it reveals, more beautiful. Perhaps, that is how you see love in all its facets- a time consuming passion to discover but.. .. There's treasure in these words.

I came across this once again, the title dawned and tempted me once again... to treasure a woman like this dear Neville, only a "real" man can do, and real men aren't everywhere, nor every man is a real one, I know You understand me well enough here, and again I must applaud You high for this precious gem*

"IF" and I'm saying "IF" anyone came to tell You, that You are not so passionate, not so romantic, and You don't write them well enough, just show them THIS marvelous massive gem!!! You know what is the great about it? that it's so original written in the way only Neville can!

My favorite kind of poems have their own voice.you don't have to struggle to find or hear a rhyme. Because the work itself has a natural rhythm that serenades the reader. This poem is saturated in that quality.

Your title prepped me for an epic myth type poem. I wasn’t disappointed. I love how you’ve woven the love, the countryside, nature as origins and the sense of the beginnings of love itself into an observation on sweat beads.
I suppose the love poem should be that. I mean something that can make the reader believe that there is only one true condition, and one relationship that lives up to that standard.
I know there’s more there. The mourning of the transience of even the purest of states or feelings. More particularly the loss of someone dearly loved. But, I love the way a love has inspired something so beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the salmon imagery and the fern fronds. All very soothing.
Beautiful work, Neville.

Poetic perspicacity in perspiration. Glowing images, sensuous language all gone in a flash in the final dénouement.
An intriguing piece of writing, Neville. What more could we ask for on a poetry site?

oh my goodness ...how surprised i was in your closing ...that one line added layer upon layers to the tale .. from subtle sensuality to the skies so full of colors and imaginations ... tho your protagonist frowns it made me smile initially ...but then ....that is so sad ... such love ... yet mistrusted :( what a wonderful experience to read for me my friend! well done! i agree with Ken about the English flare to it ...nice!
