Familiar Strangers

 

It’s never easy she said

When you’re as dry as a bone

 

When your bladder is bursting

And you’re a long way from home

 

Times such as these

Are more precious than gold

 

There is no room for regret

We are just growing old

 

Another age spot and skin tag

More aches and sprains

 

We are just familiar strangers

Celebrating more losses than gains

Familiar Strangers? Sad that Neville. These couplets all remind me of aspects of getting older. Could be a husband and wife scenario where the couple have grown apart instead of together. Time is precious, it runs out all too quickly.

No one deserves it maybe, but there is a lot of it about, hence this old scribble...

I see it all the time with couples who have no family and no interests and can barely talk to each other. Take a walk to my local.

when someone loses something, they will appreciate it, know its true value, for those who took everything for granted, it's the time to change that, Your words make me sad hoping You are not under any pain Neville~ my kind friend, though to know You are not alone and there are many "Familiar Strangers" sharing with You these thoughts and feelings brings comfort to the heart, as for the note, I did note :)

I too like the word combo of ... familiar strangers... as age rearranges our normal, and this new standard is nothing but strange to us, we can still enjoy the journey.
