Birds on the Wire

Birds on the Wire

A Poem by Neville

Birds on the Wire

Beneath

Their collective weight the thin wire bowed and in the breeze

It gently swayed both to and fro

Then

Without any overt sign at all they grasped the cable in their claws and rose into the air

Climbing higher

until that cable arched and simultaneously they let go

Delighting in the song it sang

Then they were gone

without a trace

Without

a single feather out of place

Like they had never been there after all

.

thank you for the visit my friend, you are always more than welcome..... N
Your title drew me in straight away Neville. We must be on the same wave length at times, I have an identical title, but a different subject matter, but it did involve looking at birds on a wire. This is truly beautiful and so visual. Nothing like birds in flight, soaring in the thermals to lift your spirits, and you have done that with your wonderful lines. Hope you are having a great holiday, we are just about to go boating. xx

It resonates a "twaaaannnnggggg" like a fiddler testing a violin string, nature's musicians at their best. :) Thanks for sharing x

What a lovely scene you paint here, Neville....and a good example of team work too! There is something magical about the last line. Beauty....it is fleeting, isn't it? Very good write. Lydi**

Thank you again dear Lydi.....N
I love it. Very visual. One tiny thing, I might say AT all -- but then again, I am terrible at counting syllables etc.

You're welcome.
I love the detail in the observation... this really delights in their playful, clever nature... the freedom of coming and going as they please. I feel like I am in this moment you describe watching those birds! Thank you!
