This Pedestal

This Pedestal

A Poem by Neville

This Pedestal

This pedestal you placed me on will surely be the death of me

It only serves to raise me up above the parapet

for the whole damn world to see

Take note then of these failing limbs

an easy target would you not agree

?

Watch closely as I carve invisible statues in time and air

Some call it poetry

Take my hand then and climb aboard

this plinth of mine is mine and mine alone to share

Load aim and fire at will
