My England

My England

A Poem by Neville

My England

What happened to my England

Where did she go?

Drowned in the suds of car wash lots

In the rainbow coloured ink of countless tattoo parlours

Not to mention all those pop up deli’s and charity shops

?

Oh’ and whilst on the subject

Let us not forget those cheap booze outlets and fast food shacks

There she lies well and truly buried

My England

.

You are showing your age, as I am because I agree with you. Our England is very different now from what it was when we were growing up. The vast expanse of green fields and woodland are being whittled down. My grandchildren will not see what I saw, but it probably bothers me far more than it bothers them. Lots of our country pubs are closing and we are being overtaken by coffee shops. Our roads are broken and congested, our public transport crap, we don't have enough schools or hospitals or affordable housing. Well what do you expect when we have had unrestricted immigration for years. Sensible and fair policy needed. Not a free for all. Rant over. Oh, and I still feel very English but living in a land I don't always recognise. How sad is that? You've stirred up a hornet's nest here Neville.

hey Neville, this is happening everywhere in the world, the old days were beautiful, the world is melting into one unified culture and the look of it is ugly. We should try hard to preserve our indigenous cultures.
I get your work, its fab.
