Darnarstreet

A Poem by Neville
"

An observation nothing less and nothing more

"

‘Darnarstreet’

Remember

Way back in the day

Darnarstreet Kids

Played out till late

Remember

 Back in the day

Bareassedstreet Kids

Took anything that was not nailed down

Remember

 Back in the day

Tooscaredtoaskstreet Kids

Were often hidden far away

How things have changed

I'm sad to say

No one plays out Darnarstreet these days

i sure do remember .. so thanks for reminding me .. as a youngster (early teen years) i wondered several square miles of our neighborhood without fear. as long as i was home when the street lamps came on i was not in trouble .. i rode my bicycle, walked or ran everywhere .. a blessed wonder years of growing up .. dangers certainly lurked .. but the were very well hidden and rarely erupted upon the scene .. Darnarstreet all my buddies and families lived, hung out on the corners and porches as one .. "in the hood" i guess is a more recent way to put it .. only without gang connotations :) enjoyed reading and where it took lmy thoughts this morning

Times for sure have changed everywhere. Luckily I live in a smaller community where we pretend the world isn't quite so modern. But I am sure one nosy neighbour will call the authorities one day and the kids will no longer be able to play in our streets.
