‘Cova’

‘Cova’

A Poem by Neville
"

I have purposefully listed this under 'Erotica' I think it is mildly so but sometimes, less is more innit?

"

Cova

Cova spoke fondly of her Andalusian sea

She also spoke five languages including mine

Cova wore no prints on her finger tips it seemed

And

At first I thought she was a Basque spy

Cova carried the scent of rock pools and raw cotton in her hair

We argued over Dali, Freud and Cohen

Apparently

Her husband was in love with old manuscripts

Hence her being there alone

I introduced her to butterfish

Then we watched vultures gorge on something in the gutter

Her naked foot caught mine covertly beneath the table

She hinted there was something special between her and me

Cova promised something extraordinary if I walked with her along the beach to her hotel

Then she was gone

Neville
I met her whilst I was volunteering in Africa. She was an intelligent and independent but potentially vulnerable woman out there alone & for a short while, we befriended each other. Nothing happened. Give it to me, come on why dontcha...

A mysterious rendezvous indeed. Sounds like playing footsie under the table gave both of you ideas, but they never came to fruition. Still, a memorable meeting and it obviously left an imprint on your memory. Great character study and great imagery. Lydi**

Ask Divya if attempting to induce suicide is the right thing to do to another person.

Nothing happened...but in my view, plenty did. If you look at interactions beyond just the physical. It's all in the mind after all. ;)

A very interesting sketch of Cova here. Quite an unusual name. I am especially intrigued by the lack of fingerprint but also by her intellect and her boldness. I wonder if she was more than a handful for her husband who took solace in old manuscripts. But that's just me overthinking perhaps. The last line leaves the tale open-ended nicely, for the reader to guess.

A poem I enjoyed reading!

............................ me too 😊👍
This is an almost romantic tale with one of those chance encounters. A beautiful intelligent woman and the possibility of what could happen. We all make choices and choose paths to take.

There is nothing wrong with sharing friendship and conversations. Allowing it to go further is not for me judge. Things happen in this life and we make decisions based off of reason and emotions others couldn’t and don’t know for they aren’t in that moment.

Yes, snapshot in time and I felt a bit like voyeur. Your lines built up with anticipation of something truly wonderful that was about to take place. The scene was certainly set for it, the suspense was all there, everything was going very nicely and then.....why dontcha know it.....You convey this really well Neville and your imagery is sharp and realistic. Nice work.

If only Divya was there... we could all find an easier way to commit suicide.
Very sexy, though it likely does not need the mature tag, as it is too sophisticated to catch the eye of the MaturePolice.

You're on fire, this is right there. It captures a little moment of life in a big way. There are no wasted words and I esp like '...old manuscripts, Hence her being there alone' And I can damn well see those vultures about their meal. And the fact it is 'something' is just right because it is not important what it is as it is incidental to what is nearly going on. Really vivid word snapshot, very real, strong communication of moment and feeling.
