Not Guilty

Not Guilty

A Poem by Neville

Not Guilty

Do pardon me your Honour

I am not as guilty

As the evidence might suggest

With barely thirteen

Cupful’s of contaminated culture

Secreted inside my vest

I consider myself innocent

Until proven otherwise and

Hereby doth protest

the indictment of the subject upon the "village" to carry the weight of guilt as well or perhaps entirely... very interesting poem that brings to mind this debate for me ... is there a shared responsibility .. if so .. how much .. for me it always comes down to personal and free choice to behave one way or another ... no matter what the environmental challenges thrown at us ... that is what your poem sparks in me .. the structure is very strong ... and the rhyming of the last line of each verse also strong ... i love its brevity and deeper meanings ... with a touch of humor to boot .. thoroughly enjoyed reading ..

This is a very nice piece. Gives the impression of not taking the system seriously.

I love it. When guilt is clearly evident to all, but can it be proven? And is there a societal guilt at play? Wonderful.
