Lapwing

Lapwing

A Poem by Neville
"

Teen infatuation, nuff said

"

Lapwing

Pied bird of the skies

Symbol of freedom

Enter the Lapwing

Chained to the nest of the eagle

I gazed upon your face

And found it flawless

As if by some chance

You were a Goddess

Lapwing look at me

Tell me what you want from me

Take my hand again let’s run

Let’s chase the wind and catch the sun

Pied bird of the skies

Symbol of freedom

Exit the Lapwing

Free from the next of the eagle

I once thought I was in love with a married woman. I quickly realised that I was wrong when her husband bless him threatened to blow my knee-cap off...

Nothing like the threat of a knee capping to put things into perspective Neville. Seems your beautiful lapwing made quite an impression on you. It also seems her husband was about to bestow a lasting impression on you as well:) Relationships eh? Your second stanza is particularly lovely.

Ooooh - infatuation does not extend to having a knee capped my luverly - - - hey ho for days of nest-free attraction - - - as I well remember.

I guess most of us have been there at some time or another....thanks for dropping in Fay....
Sometimes the best way to express love is to let our loved ones be free, or return to their true nests... Beautiful metaphors, Neville! I'm sure that even if your lapwing had a separate nest of her own, it made her life that much brighter to know a stray bird desired to share one with her as well. I hope that you found/find your true lapwing, and that the love you share is as sweet as the one you once had to release! Keep up the good work! :)

Loving the authors note. I once fell in love with my teacher, but told her it was okay because she was really old. She said she was 24, offended. I said "thats ancient" :)
We all have our infatuations, but none I wish to give up kneecaps for.

I would have taken this more as taking a love away from the parents - but then reading the note changes one's perspective.
