Some Are Left Behind

Some Are Left Behind

A Poem by Neville
"

Another one I made earlier.... much earlier

"

Some Are Left Behind

You said you would but never did

You said you had and that you were extremely proud of it

You with your smile as beautiful as the sun

All this means nothing to you does it

You who were as welcome as the rain is to desert flowers

Yes you with the hair and that feral look

Your pained and weary eyes gazed upon by many

Was it you who won the battle was it you who lost the war

It now seems that many died on both sides

Yet some were left to wonder whilst others left deformed

Often a pretty smile is just a facade for an evil soul. Unfortunately, being taken in and duped by that pretty smile is all too easy. Great metaphor in this one. People do not realize when they have won "the war"...and continue to fight till they actually lose everything. There is honest emotion in this one...the pain of heartbreak is palpable. Lydi**

The eyes told us what the smile did not. Beware a wild and reckless heart.

you just made this hard man cry...
Jesus is on your side.
The devil rides by.
The war is over.
But for some, it lasts forever.

indefinitely my friend.. and that's a long, long time..:)
Smiles, beauty and the like are, supposedly, the opposite to frowns, ugliness and maybe, a touch of hypocrisy. How people look is immaterial, it's how they are, how they behave and even more - respect other people's feelings and ways of being. Perhaps. Most people wear 'adopted' cloaks, many for good reason.. as your fine poem suggests, others make use of it when it suits their purpose. Perhaps. There are thoughts in this poem that go far deeper than the words suggest. Perhaps.

nowt to be or feel sorry about at all.. how could there be :)
The behaviour of some can leave others feeling crippled. That's what I am picking up here. A beautiful smile and bad behaviour? That spells ugly to me. What interesting lines you give us Neville. So much to think about. So much to ponder on. "You said you had and were extremely proud of it". I know that line. That was bad behaviour too

I knew a man like this once. He looked awesome with his cascading tresses and his lovely, great, big eyes! He was arrogant and always at war. If there was no one around he fought himself and even the air around him sometimes! Till one day he lost it all and how sadly and badly he lost it! If there is anyone to be pitied now, it’s him. All because he didn’t know when to stop fighting!

Your words evoke such thoughts in me always, dear N!

Love,
KittyKat

A melancholy piece for sure. Lost love, strained love? It seems distant, but close.
