Insight can be a double edged sword....

MOMENTS

Occasionally there are moments

When you stop pretending

And on these rare occasions

When you confess, your body aches

With pain of freedom

Like a river aches for the sea

Infrequent moments

When you realise your selfishness

Has made you weaker than you want to be

Hmmm...selfish for wanting something or having something or someone? Some people always put others ahead of themselves and these "givers" actually need, at one time in their lives, to go for what they want. But I agree that to "need" or "want" something does indeed make "you weaker than you want to be". Maybe becoming a buddhist is the answer :) A thought-provoking write, something I am beginning to recognise is a signature of your excellent poetry. Justine
