The Butterfly Dance

The Butterfly Dance

A Poem by Neville

The Butterfly Dance

Imagine for a moment

Maybe two

Being one half of that pair of

Swallow tailed butterflies over there

Perpetually engaged

In their own aerial ballet

Maintaining between them

A perfectly formed inverted double helix

Lifted by warm thermals

Hovering motionless in the air

Carried off by the breeze to who knows where

Now how cool is that

?

How did I miss this gem? I had to look up inverted double helix and then I was able to fully understand this beautiful dance by the butterflies. I paused to reflect the sheer beauty and perfect harmony. There is much that nature can teach us. I wanna be one of those butterflies for a day. Lovely work Neville. Fabulous imagery in your final stanza, such fragile perfection.

Great imagery, Neville. Inverted double helix as in inverted DNA? I like the comparison of the butterfly dance to an aerial ballet. You have quite the imagination.

Wonderful read. Thanks for posting. :)

Your observations are keen. I've watched them myself and always wondered how those little bodies could flap such big colorful wings. A ballet is a good way of putting it. A fun read.
