it is frightening to think that the profession of health services can be so devoid of care & humane faculties, it is a warning to who we are, what we want to be, it's the human condition coming back to haunt us, there is a lesson to be learned and things that need to be improved always. thank you for writing this.

Thank you Circe, sentiment well & truly reciprocated, N
Wow, what can I say? NHS staff are normally dedicated, caring and compassionate, so what's appening? Lack of resources, leading to patient deaths? It's gotta be. This left me feeling a bit flat (not dead) just flat.
Waiting for some sort of response Neville.

I generally agree and having worked for many years within the NHS, I have much respect for those vast majority who work tirelessly and selflessly for others.... However, these words accurately reflect events that were ultimately responsible for the death of my Father...... N

Anything like that happening to a member of your family is bound to tarnish your viewpoint. Very sad to hear.

I am not familiar with the NHS either but we have plenty of federal watchdog programs here in the USA ... One wise old hobbit has said "..third time pays for all" but the opposite seems to be the case here. I'm off to google NHS and expand the expereince of your poem for myself... systems can choke the breath from the unique and independant ... for sure... hard to swim against the tide.
