Where Do Your Words Come from?

Where Do Your Words Come from?

A Poem by Neville

Where Do Your Words Come from?

Pray where do your words come from?

My Lady once said

They come from my heart and sometimes my head

And where do you find them?

My lady once said

In those legendary Ley Lines that make up our fine bed

And why do you write them?

My Lady once said

To serve to remind you long after I am dead

So many never ponder what their legacy will be. As poets, we are always cognizant of this and this drives us to hone our craft to degrees of perfection. I have often said that the "classics are classic for a reason." They have stood the test of time because they are great. I have also said that I want my poetry to be on the same shelf as Lord Byron one day. It's the humblest hope of one who strives to be better than I am. Your poem is a summation of this desire. Lovely!

Quite superb. As I read this, and especially so in the second stanza, I see 'My Lady' as this lovely place we are fortunate enough to inhabit.

I once read that the urge or need within us to create is a protest against death. By writing, painting, sculpting, etc, we leave pieces of ourselves behind. Excellent, Neville.

The question and answer style is impeccable. The rhymes are simple, but it's a lovely thing, as well as the format.
