Compassion

Compassion

A Poem by Neville

Compassion

In a moment of unparalleled compassion

I walked boldly over to the window

And opened my hand

Releasing the mosquito

Later that same evening however

Above my head and amidst the vast expanse

Of my whiter than white bedroom ceiling

That very same mosquito

Whiled away the remaining daylight hours

Unashamedly practicing

Upside down press-ups

Until the night came

And then dived like a Stuka

Striking precisely that point on my neck

Where the pulse might still be felt
