As far as this particular journey is concerned

I can say with some authority

We each arrive

At different points in time

 

Those mourning and already grieved

The victim and abuser stand in line

 

The junkie and the dealer

The punter and the squealer

 

Those in love and those betrayed

Those betrothed and those decayed

 

The thin the fat

The good the bad

 

Those in spite and those instead

Those behind and those ahead

 

As far as this particular journey is concerned

I can say with some authority

The wisdom of lived experience, but with a recognition of the ambiguity and uncertainty of it all.

I always appreciate your approach to big topics, Neville. You come at it like a story and allow the reader to develop the ideas in response to the experience not as a result of didactics.

There's a dusting of sorrow to this one, but the acceptance seems to be the triumphant emotion. In the end all we have at our disposal is response to experience. Being able to choose that is a gift--though not always a predictable one.

I'm glad you pointed me to this one. Good to get back into your archives here.
