'A Woodland Encounter'
Neville,
Hmm... the encounter of the unexplained.
' He asked me if I knew the way
`To where’ was my reply
To this he tutted several times
And quickly said `goodbye’
The encounter is as much a mystery as the said communication therein.
So much which makes this life wonderful ends up being what we don't
understand but continues to delight. This little piece did just that.
Here's to the imagination. Let's keep ourselves in that place as time progresses.
Blessings,
Kathy
Reminds me of song by Eric Burdon & War:
"I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day
When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest
In a big field of tall grass
I laid there in the sun and felt it caressing my face
As I fell asleep and dreamed
I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie . . . "
As always, you are very clever in how you turn this anecdote into a riddle, the way you make your reader think a while, the way this situation resembles those times in real life when people want to interact with us until we ask them to reveal themselves! *wink! wink!* I can always depend on you to approach your poems in a fresh way! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am a sucker for a gnome. This poem intrigued me, I find myself ruminating on the question ... agonizing even. Thanks Neville, now I have a tormenting question rattling around in my mind.

Oh I liked this, it made me want to find him again and answer differently to see what he would say or do. I think yes perhaps we visited the same enchanted woods :)

Ah! I am so enjoying your work. This brings to mind the one of my favorite quotes from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland -
"Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.”
This was quite thought provoking to me, and impeccably written.
