The Argument

The Argument

A Poem by Neville

The Argument

 Having dressed in silence

The young couple finally

Decide to leave the rented room

And separate

The argument was over

...

Tomorrow a local girl

Will commit suicide somewhere

While in another empty room

A young man will search forever

For a single golden hair

"The Argument"
Neville Pettitt,
Contrasts of of life is what came to me when reading. Beginnings and endings are so real and many times harsh and unforgiving.
Silence can be so painful and bore into the soul:
"Having dressed in silence
the young couple finally
decided to leave the rented room"
A new thing will come for them and for others as well. Focusing on the coming loss and death is surly strong here"
"Tomorrow
a local girl
will commit suicide somewhere"
Memories so fond, remaining gossamer strand reality in the heart of the man has not changed:
"A young man will search forever
for a single golden hair"
Some things are so beautiful!
Blessings,
Kathy

You are master of minimalism. So much emotions packed in your poem..... to explain I will need a bundle of words. Silence between two people has such a tragic effect!! Beautiful writing! Uma abraço.

Bless ya dear friend & poet & of course, my pleasure entirely.....N
I like the way you paint stark scenes in simple straightforward words to show the way misunderstandings can balloon into tragedy. This is a good example for the newer writers that often write about bleak scenes . . . this is how its done in an artful way, igniting our imaginations by understating the situation (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is dark and devoid of hope. Searching, searching, endlessly searching.
