Author Notes
Fairy tales are often cruel and odd, this one describes abuse and rape. It is not just an European fairy tale, but like Cinderella it has roots in many cultures with varying themes, in Europe, the story is Christianized, in other stories the father or brother want the girl for themselves. The reasons for her losing her hands or arms vary as well. The constant is the apple tree and the king's quest to find his wife; seven years being most common in fairy tales.
For more information on fairy tales, I recommend Jack Zipe's many books.

This poem takes my breath away. First one to too. It took me the third read to understand what you meant but when I got it, it was worth the struggle. Fenomenal job.
