Love's resort

I have become a flaneur, a mere tourist in love's resort
It's not a light, cheery heart I flaunt in bright colors
I'm not a snapshot against a pleasant backdrop
Smiling my report.

And I wonder sometimes
Of the safety for an inkhorn, a recluse in word
Dwelling in the sanctuary of pages and lines
Whose sorrows are never heard.

From the Acme of bliss all are drawn to seek
Comes the ineluctable descent to the village
Where wiser stoics mingle with hopeful pilgrims
Mythomania the marauding force of pillage

I lovingly caress the gewgaw I acquired this trip
Assessing whether it's truly trinket or treasure
Well-crafted and costly, a diamond through my lip
Silence my marking, wisdom my measure.
