A Chapter by Little Miss Strange

Crystal Lake Academy was built in 1886 by Rachel Martin. A few weeks after it was finished Rachel started acting strange, like she was hiding something. A couple days later Rachel went for a walk in the forest, but never came back. The only people to witness this were her children, Ben and Jamie Martin. They were in 2nd grade at the time and playing in the bushlands when they saw their mother with some sort of creature.

"It was a large bear!" Jamie described it.

"No it was a big dog! But...it looked see through," Ben said. They also said that their mother was talking with a man who was very pale and tall and also seemed transparent.

"After awhile I guess we kinda fell asleep..." Ben said sheepishly," and then Momma was gone! We tried lookin' for her but there weren't any foot prints or tracks or nothin." Jamie and Ben turned their gaze to the woods, Ben's little sister started to tear up, Ben wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. Their father Ramond Martin joined them and nudged them to the school.

"Sorry, no more interviews" he said sternly then disappeared into the newly built school.

This is a very good, kind of mysterious start to a book. But my only problem is that this really doesn't sound like a newspaper article. It just sounds like a kid's summary of it. Put more detail, but not as much emotion into it, and it will be good.
