Too late nowA Poem by Danit could happen...Too Late Now
Stood crying on the mothership, All staring at the burning sphere, The world now bathed in orange flame, The home they all once held so dear.
How human nature won and lost, It won the day but lost its way, Survivors now in space to face, Eternal night, the darkest day.
The vicar and the footballer, Stood side by side in disbelief, Where once one prayed the other played, Now man, united, shares their grief.
The pregnant girl at six months gone, Now dreads the thought of giving birth, Apologises to her bump, "Some selfish men blew up the Earth".
Retired Army General, Sheds tears for comrades passed away, Wishes he'd gone down with them, He didn't fight to see this day.
The millionaire, the pauper, Equal now for all is lost, All the cash amounts to nothing, Accountants cannot count the cost.
Nuclear Winter from now on, No Autumn leaves nor Summer sun, No Spring flowers, super powers, Whittled seasons down to one.
Floating through vast starry ether, Could not have known when next they blinked, The home they had would be no more, And life on Earth would be extinct.
