WARNING! Monday morning

WARNING! Monday morning

A Poem by Dan

I wrote this one day on a 2 hour Monday morning commute

WARNING! Monday Morning

I open my eyes,

Sunlight is blinding me,

I see my pants,

On the lampshade reminding me,

Monday is here,

And loathing and fear are my breakfast today,

The weekend is over.

Pour me black coffee,

So I can face the new day,

Hit that damn clock,

Throw the b*****d away!

Turn on the radio,

So I can hear all the hits,

That I'm too old to buy, who the hell are McFly?

Make me some toast,

But please don't cremate it!

Don't slurp your tea babe,

You know how I hate it,

Read me the news,

That's bound to depress me

And where is the rubbish? The binmen are here.

Stop those birds singing,

They sound far too happy,

Don't they have jobs

That are low paid and crappy?

"Of course not", I crow,

But I must leave the nest, to fly South for the day.

Washing and brushing,

And carefully shaving,

Kissing you 'bye,

On the doorstep you're waving,

Catching the train

And it's standing room only; if only I could.

But I can't stand much more.

It's always the same,

Every train that I take,

Has a kid with an ipod,

"Tsss tssss" like a snake,

Sits opposite, chewing,

And rhythmically bobbing,

Can't quite hear the tune, perhaps it's McFly.

Rush hour people,

Are always so loud,

How many of us,

Go deaf in the crowd?

Stampede of commuters,

Computers await,

Oh great, I am late, should have been in at 8.....
