First date nerves

First date nerves

A Poem by Dan
"

I tried to sum up how it felt going on a first date when we were young...

"

First date nerves

I've dreamt before

about this day,

of what I'd wear

and what I'd say,

And now it's here

I'm ill-prepared,

and maybe just

a little scared.

I've written words

before today,

words I thought

I'd get to say.

But now I know

it's Saturday,

My script has upped

and run away.

Forgive me

if I stutter,

or if I start

to mutter,

if I can't think

what to utter

or my legs both

turn to butter.

It's just a touch

of nerves,

and I hope

you'll understand,

that I may shake

when I first take

your hand

into my hand.
