The Last Tear

The Last Tear

A Story by Neva
"

A short little story, quite depressive.

"
"How could you do this to me?" she thought to herself, whilst the feeling of life was slowly leaving her body. She shivered one last time last time, cried the last tear, and thought one last time of him, before she finally shut her eyes. And they remained closed...

Two months earlier

"Mineria? Are you finished anytime soon?" her little sister asked.
Mineria was at the bathroom, making herself ready for the party.
Her mom, her sister and herself had moved from their old familiar house, to a whole new city far away, not too long time ago
Because of the man that was stalking them down.
The man her mom once was engaged with.

Mineria nodded to herself in the mirror, went outside the bathroom, and found her mobile phone laying on the bed. She called Lizz - her best friend. She told Lizz she was ready to go to the party, and asked where they should meet up. They both agreed to meet up together a few blocks away from the house the party was held in; and together they walked to the party.
After only a few knocks on the door, they were let in, greeted by smiles, laughs and a good mood.

Around an hour later at the party, a guy walked in. He was... different. His hair was a messy darkbrown color, his eyes were dark - darker than brown.
He was tall - his body, masculine and perfect.
People seemed to wonder what he was doing here.
But he just walked in with a soft smile on his face.
Nobody asked any questions or demanded him to leave.

Not too long after, Mineria and the stranger started talking. Already from the first time she had seen him, she had this weird, fuzzy feeling inside... As if she was falling. But on a good way. Falling would probably be the wrong word, it was more like... flying. She felt attracted to him. Not by his looks or his body, but by his attitude.
She had always felt alone and different from everybody, like an outsider. This guy... he was different too. But it didn't seem to bother him.

Later on at the night, by the end of the party, he asked her discretely of her number. She couldnt hide a tiny, shy smile, and gave it to him. He nodded and said he'd see her soon. She wondered when "soon" would be.

Around a week later, he finally texted her.
He asked if she would let him give her a ride in his car. He wanted to show her something, it seemed. She was in doubt. What if...
Because of her previous so called stepdad, she generally had trouble with trusting people. I guess you could call it experience.
After all the abuse and hurt she had been through with her stepdad, she never wanted to see him again, and never wanted to experience those things again... But still... she knew he was trying to find them.

She talked to Lizz about it that day. They were at Lizz's house.
Lizz - literally - made her go with the stranger. No doubt that Lizz just wanted the best for her girl friend - she had seen the way Mineria had looked at the handsome stranger that night.
Thomas was his name.
Mineria finally said okay, and by the time Thomas reached Lizz's house, Mineria was almost pushed out of the door by force of her friend. In a "I know this is good for you, you need to get out some more" way.

Full of insecurity, she went into his car. He began driving, whilst talking with her. Not about anything specific. Just about nothing, and still everything.

Soon enough, he stopped the car. She hadn't noticed where they drove, but when she stood out, she saw they were at an old, abandoned parking lot, somewhere far away from the city. He locked his car, and asked her to follow. It seemed quite suspicious, but she followed.
They walked through some bushes, and a lake appeared for their eyes. Birds were singing, and in the background you could slightly hear the sound of many frogs. The weather was sunny, but not on the hot and uncomfortable way.

They sat down not too far from the lake, and began talking again. She laid down on the soft green grass to relax.
That day was the first time he kissed her.
She had let him.
It was a sweet kiss, not a greedy or uncomfortable one, but a gentle and carefull kiss...
She had told him about her moms ex-engaged. She didn't want to call him stepdad.
He had just nodded. No judging, no 'eww' or flicking eye contact... It seemed like he understood, and he didn't even have to ask her all kind of weird questions, the way people normally would.

After that day, she felt that everyday with him was wonderful. Their feelings for eachother grew, and soon she realized that... She loved him. She didn't know where he came from, where he lived, or who he really was.
But she... loved him.
There went several weeks. Two months actually.

One of her friends was using his good grades in school as an excuse for celebrating - well, partying.
Mineria brought Thomas with her.

They walked in as a couple. But soon they split up, her to go to talk to her friends, and him to go to the toilet.
He came back, but he didn't go over to her. She didn't mind it. It was fine...
She talked to her girl friends about how much she loved him. They didn't seem to understand what love really ment. Themselves, they've had lots of boyfriends in the past, but Mineria doubted that they ever had even felt the feeling of real love...

She went upstairs to go to the bathroom. She bad been drinking, and by now she was slightly drunk.
After she finished her business at the bathroom, she went downstairs and asked her friends where Thomas had gone. They pointed at the door and said they had seen him go in one of the other rooms. So she went out of the door in the living room, and a horrible thing went before her eyes.
Thomas... Kissing with another girl.

She turned around before he noticed her, and she didn't know what to do. She couldnt go home, cause of her parents locked the door, expecting her to sleep at her friends house. She went up to the bathroom again, and saw another stairway. She needed peace to think, she didn't want to talk to anybody, she felt awfull, she felt alone again.
Alone again... The one person, who she found it so hard to trust, but... She had trusted him. The only one she had been able to trust.
And he had abused her trust. Her love...

She walked up the stairway, and appeared in a small, low and dusty room, just under the roof. it was cold up there. She sat down against a wall, and her thoughts were of Thomas. Of how he had kissed the other girl...
No... she didn't have anything anymore. All she ever wanted, was one like him, one to save her from her worst nightmares, someone to help her through everything, to understand...

And he was the one. The only one. Maybe not the only one, but the only one I'll ever see, she thought to herself.
She saw a mirror beside herself. Her eyeliner had run down of her cheeks, and her eyes were red and swollen from crying. Her pitchblack hair had a light shine, caused by the light of the moon.
She was mad at herself, for being so weak, for making the mistake of trusting somebody else...
She broke the mirror with one quick hit of the back of her fist. It broke into lots of pieces.

She had made her final decision. She gave up. She... didn't want it anymore. No more hurt. No more suffering. No more being afraid. No more wondering. No more running away. No more fear. No more depression. No more love. No more arguing. No more abuse. No more...
She took a tiny piece of the mirror. But it was big enough.

She cut herself into one of the veins in her wrist. Deep enough.

*Thomas's POV*

Whilst she was up there, Thomas had been trying to look for her. He couldn't find her anywhere.
His ex had just suddenly showed up to the party. He wanted to leave, because of the way she had tried to kiss him. He had pushed her away, but she had just smiled on an evil way. It confused him.
I hope she didn't see it, he thought. It would be one big misunderstanding... He was worried about her.

*Minerias POV*

"How could you do it?" she quietly asked herself. She had given up on everything, given up on life. She didn't want it anymore.
When she closed her eyes, she knew she was going to a better place

A place where she would finally find peace...

She smilied and felt relieft, while she could feel the way life was slowly dissapearing from her body.

First from the fingers and toes, then moving to hands and feet, and then legs and arms...
Right untill her heart stopped beating...

A last tear rolled from the cornor of her eye, down over her cheek...
Her pretty face, still with the same expression and faint smile she had on her lips by the time her heart had stopped beating.

As if she was frozen, but her eyes were empty and peacefull.

By the time the last tear finally hit the bloodstained floor, it was like it had washed away all of her sadness.

And she was smiling.

Author's Note

Neva
I must have written this when I was between 14 and late 15.
I don't remember writing it, but I recognize the names and the bad grammar.
I've fixed some few bits that was poorly written, but otherwise I didn't want to change too much - would stop it from being so unique to me.

I know I could write it better today, but this was written directly from my heart back then.
I know it's very depressive, and honestly, it's hard for me to read it myself. Now I remember why I never read my own work afterwards... ^_^

Every review and opinion is welcome as usual... Just remember how old it is :)
